Wow, I haven't blogged in a long, long time. Over a year, in fact.
Actually, I had forgotten that I still have a Xanga account, until someone randomly asked me this week if I blog.
Lucky for you (nonexistent, I think) readers, I still have a wandering mind and think of odd things all the time. So, today, I think I will be randomly listing things that I find funny. These are just things I randomly came across or thought of the past week or so that made me chuckle...just a little bit.
So you know when a football player gets hurt, they send out this golf cart thingy to wheel him off the field. They put the player on there, and then 2-3 guys jump on the cart and then they drive away. But, undoubtedly, one of the coaches/trainers will always have no seat, so he's forced to run alongside the cart. It's like he missed the bus. He's gotta run the whole length of the field chasing the golf cart. Makes me chuckle a bit.
I saw 2 people playing badminton, and both of them had knee braces on. Made me laugh a bit. They were just hitting that shuttlecock back and forth while standing still.
Hm, I thought I had more. But, I can't remember any. This blogging thing is kinda fun, actually. Maybe I'll start writing again.
So, I'm riding my motorcycle home from work...it's about 12:30AM. I'm going up Stringfellow and it's pretty much a pitch black stretch of road.
Out of the corner of my eye I catch a vague image of something. I look twice and it's a freaking deer running towards me! WTF. It was too late for braking to do any good, so I gunned it and swerved the best I could. The deer was like 3 feet from my right handlebar by the time I passed it. Seriously freaked me out.
What a day. I had to work late and then a freaking deer nearly knocks me off my bike. Haha. Guess I'll count my lucky stars.
Ok, so I know I haven't posted in a long, long time. Not sure why, actually. Well, aside from the fact that work was ridiculous towards the end of last year.
Anyway, as usual I have lots of thoughts to write down. But today's post is not for that. I just simply need to share with the world my excitement for the latest addition to my beloved Lakers, Mr. Pau Gasol.
Ok, I never cared much for the "Made in China" recall stories. I know it was a big deal, and it is unfortunate, but it is what it is. And the proper stakeholders are taking care of the situation.
But this one story I just ran across absolutely ticks me off.
The story is about how a crib, designed by an American company, has DESIGN FLAWS that caused a recall. However, the headline and content of the story continually emphasize that it was MADE IN CHINA, even though the location of the manufacturing has NOTHING to do with why these cribs are being recalled. In fact, CNN itself felt it was so misleading that they had to put this in the article, as if to clarify it's own misleading title: "Toy design, not production, blamed for recalls"
What is the point of continually emphasizing that it was Made in China if that has NOTHING to do with why the cribs are being recalled? Adding that to the title insinuates that China is at fault, and essentially continues to ruin the image of Chinese made products. That is absolutely careless journalism and in fact a violation of CNN's due diligence to present accurate reporting. The title and content is absolutely misleading, and CNN should know that many people rely on headlines a lot to get a gist of the day's top stories. UGH!!!
